Your Health and Safety Is ALA’s Top Priority

June 25, 2021

Greetings fellow CLI participants!

This year’s Chapter Leadership Institute will be ALA’s first in-person event since the pandemic began, and we can’t wait to see you all. We have a wonderful agenda in place that includes several amazing sessions and many opportunities to network with your peers as well as ALA’s business partners. There are even a few opportunities to earn that coveted CLM credit!

I’m reaching out today with information regarding the health and safety measures put in place for our event. It is imperative that you know your health and safety is our top priority. As dedicated as we are to providing high-quality sessions and networking opportunities, your well-being comes before all else.

Therefore, ALA has elected to uphold the original agreement put in place with its participants upon registration. This requires all CLI attendees, business partners, speakers and their guests (if applicable) to:

  • Agree to and sign an assumption of risk and waiver of claims (completed during the registration process; a blank copy of the waiver is available here for your convenience).
  • Wear a mask or face covering at all times during the event, except in limited settings such as during meals.
  • Avoid person-to-person contact such as handshakes, hugs, high-fives, etc.
  • Adhere to social distancing guidelines.
  • Submit a daily self-screening health questionnaire.

If you are unwilling or unable to comply with the above health and safety measures on-site, please contact [email protected] by June 29 to cancel your registration and receive a full refund. (A $125 cancellation fee will be assessed for requests received after June 29.) We regret that we will be unable to grant access to noncompliant participants.

We recognize that various locales and businesses (including the hotel) have relaxed their rules in the wake of recent announcements made by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. However, we believe that a conservative approach is appropriate for ALA and so, on the advice of legal counsel and after much discussion with the ALA Executive Committee, we have determined this to be the best course of action.

We greatly appreciate your patience, understanding and cooperation as we work through the logistics of our first in-person event since the pandemic began. To that end, we have put together a brief outline of what you can expect when you arrive on-site.

I look forward to seeing you all in St. Louis!
