Welcome from the Conference Committee
Dear Colleagues,
By Kim Cannon
LFA Retreat Planning Committee Chair
On behalf of the LFA Retreat Planning Committee, I would like to invite you to attend this year’s Large Firm Principal Administrators Retreat, August 1–3 at the Lowes Nashville in my home town of Nashville, Tennessee. Known as Music City, USA, Nashville has something for everyone’s musical taste. With more than 180 music venues around town ranging from large arenas and concert halls to small clubs featuring nearly every genre of music, it’s easy to see why this is the city that “music calls home.” In addition to music, there are other interesting venues to explore including Cheekwood Botanical Gardens and Museum of Art, Frist Art Museum, Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, The Parthenon and Centennial Park, Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum and the historic Ryman Auditorium, just to name a few.
The retreat will begin on Thursday, August 1, with an afternoon of golf for those who wish to play, or the chance to experience other planned activities. Both Thursday and Friday evening events will occur outside of the hotel and showcase the local experience.
The Planning Committee is excited about the educational program we are developing this year. The format will be significantly redesigned from past years and will work to optimize learning from one another. With the wealth of industry knowledge and experience in our group, we plan to spend our time together exploring creative and innovative solutions while learning tools that we can utilize in our firms. An experienced facilitator will lead us through learning after which we will break up into small groups to identify potential solutions and opportunities. We believe this format will allow us to learn more from each other, to network with old friends and meet new ones, and to learn new problem-solving skills with hands on experience.
We believe this revamped format will allow significant time for you to network with your colleagues. The feedback each year shows that this is always one of the best parts of the retreat. We are grateful for your interest in this year’s retreat, and we look forward to personally welcoming you to Nashville this summer!
