Mark Your Calendars for the 2025 Essentials of Chapter Leadership
Climb higher in your leadership training March 18–20 at ALA's virtual conference tailored for chapter leaders. Enhance your skills and knowledge with a chapter registration fee of $499. This registration fee grants unlimited access to all chapter members and prospective leaders interested in attending. This training event is intended to provide incoming chapter leaders with the tools and knowledge necessary for chapter management, highlight important resources available to all leaders and present information on the importance of adhering to essential financial and legal responsibilities. As event registration is on a per chapter basis, this is a great opportunity for all chapter leaders, as well as prospective leaders, to be provided with this essential training.
For chapter leaders who are interested in registering their chapter, but concerned about the cost, ALA's Board of Directors has set aside funds to assist chapters in attending. Funding assistance applications can be submitted here until February 12. Determinations will be shared with the chapter by the end of February.
What Is the Difference Between ECL and CLI?Have you seen announcements about the Essentials of Chapter Leadership (ECL) and the Chapter Leadership Institute (CLI) and wondered what the difference is between the two events? In some ways, these events are similar because they are targeted at chapter leaders and both share valuable information geared toward empowering leaders! But these events also differ in their focus. ECL focuses on the fundamentals of ALA chapter leadership and management. You will be exposed to resources, ideas and education that will equip you from the start of your leadership term and highlight the basics for those thinking of stepping into a leadership role. CLI builds upon the foundation formed at ECL. The focus is on leadership, communication skills, member engagement and recruitment, with opportunities for brainstorming and problem-solving within the parameters of different Board positions. Both events are geared toward chapters of all sizes; however, CLI incorporates roundtable sessions that are focused on specific positions and subject matters with an opportunity to share ideas and concerns with your peers. |
